MIXED RULES
2024 USSSA Mixed Summer Slam Rules
Games will be played at: Big League Dreams Las Vegas
3151 E Washington Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101
50-minute game times including the championship. Game time is forfeit time. Teams MUST be ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time. No exceptions!
The Tournament Director has the right to change the format and schedule as he sees fit in order to conclude the tournament due to weather or any other unforeseen circumstances.
Coaches, please check-in at the BLD pro shop AT LEAST 30 minutes prior to your first game. You will pay your entry fee, and be provided with the game balls (2 male, 2 female)
Coaches are responsible for the behavior of your players and fans. Please make sure everyone reads the complex rules which are posted at the front gate and is available online.
In the championship game, the undefeated team has the option of the home team or visiting team. A coin toss will determine the home team in the “If” game.
Pitchers
All pitchers are required to toe the rubber (Pitchers must have a part of their foot touching the rubber) There is no more pitchers’ box.
Substitutions
All substitutions must be announced to the home plate umpire and be recorded. Any unannounced substitutions that have been appealed by the opposing manager/team will result in the ejection of the illegal player. A new substitute may then be allowed to take the place of the illegal substitute. An illegal substitute appeal must be done before a pitch is delivered.
Bat Testing
Teams must test all bats thirty (30) minutes prior to their first game. All bats must confirm and continue to perform within the current USSSA 240 bat standards. All bats will be checked-in prior to the first game played in the Qualifiers, Regionals, and State Events. All teams will be allowed to test 20 bats in total. The manager is required to make sure all bats being tested comply with the current USSSA 240 bat standard. The manager and one other person may be the ONLY ones to bring the bats to be tested. All bats MUST display the new USSSA stamp. All bats that fail compression will be kept by the tournament director until the team has been eliminated from the tournament.
Any bat without the 240 Thumbprint will be removed and the user/owner of the bat and the manager on the roster will be ejected for the duration of the tournament. If no owner can be identified, the manager of that team will be ejected for the tournament. All ejection rules will apply to this ejection, so the offending player/coach/manager will not be allowed to attend the tournament.
Penalty for a failed bat:
Tournament Directors will be keeping track of all failed bats (Team name, Owners Name, Bat Serial #, Make of bat, Oz of bat, Date Failed) The bat will be returned to the player once they are eliminated from the tournament. If a bat shows up to a different USSSA or GSL event, that PLAYER will be suspended for the remainder of the year, or they can choose to surrender the bat to the Nevada USSSA office. Rule 2 sec 2E.
Balls
The official ball of the 2024 Nevada USSSA season will be the USSSA Thunder ZN Hardcore 12” Softball. For this event, any Dudley, Onyx or Baden ZN, PRO M or Classic M may be used.
Balls will be for sale at the tournament:
12" Thunder ZN Pro M: $80 per dozen
11" Demarini GSL Nation Classic W: $50 per dozen/$30 for 6
Protests
You can protest a specific player, not an entire team at once. Protest fee is $100 Per player. Protests must be done BEFORE the end of the game.
All teams are encouraged to keep a scorebook. Home team is an official book. If a team wins the coin toss and chooses to be home, that team must have a score book. If they don’t, they will forfeit the home team to the opposing team.
ALL TEAMS MUST TURN IN A LINEUP CARD PRIOR TO THE GAME STARTING.
Courtesy Runner
One courtesy runner per inning, per gender (one time) may be used. The courtesy runners can be any player on the roster. If the courtesy runner used is still on base at the time his/her turn at bat comes up, that spot in the batting order will be an out.
NOTE: A COURTESY RUNNER CAN BE USED FOR THE PITCHER AND WILL NOT GO AGAINST THE TEAMS COURTESY RUNNER LIMIT. THIS IS OPTIONAL AND NOT MANDATED!!
Tie Breaker Rule: At the end of the time limit, the last completed at bat goes to second base and ONE PITCH begins.(except in pool play)
*In extra innings, you may courtesy run for the runner at second once they’ve obtained the base.
Profanity Rule
Profanity Rule: ZERO F Bombs will be tolerated. This is your first warning. Your second warning will be advised at the coin toss. Watch the bat flips. UMPIRES CAN USE DISCRETION IN GIVING WARNINGS OR EJECTIONS FOR EXCESSIVE BAT FLIPS!
Five males and five females must be in the lineup at all times (six and six if the A.H. is used). Batting order will alternate male, female, male OR female, male, female, through the entire lineup.
When a male batter receives a base on balls or intentional walk, he will be awarded first and second base with the next female batter having the option to walk or bat, REGARDLESS how many strikes or outs are on the male batter.
Home Run Rule
2 home runs, per gender.
Any untouched fair fly ball over the fence that exceeds the limit will be an inning ending out.
Run Rule
20 after 3, 15 after 4, 10 after 5 with accompanying flip flop rules
Equalizers
When a D team plays an E team, the E team has an option to play with an equalizer. The E team may choose ONE of the following equalizers to play with. If the equalizer is utilized, the D team will automatically become the home team:
Play with an extra fileder. That fielder can be male or female and play any position they choose. Wherever the player starts the inning is where they must finish the inning. (IF or OF)
Take a 5 run spot. Runs will be given at the beginning of the first inning.
